Sony reveals redesigned PSVR headset

Models of the PS VR bearing the CUH-ZVR2 number will have the updated features and design, with Sony planing on making the packaging different so that people can tell it apart from its predecessor. This feature allows users to enjoy HDR-compatible PS4 content on a TV without the need to disconnect the processor unit in between the switch between TV to PS4. The previous PS VR's model number is CUH-ZVR1, and the new PS VR's model number is CUH-ZVR2.

Sony is updating the original PlayStation VR headset with some small hardware iterations-just don't expect new HMD technology or anything. Unlike the old PSVR which debuted past year, the new design does not require users to disconnect in order to view HDR content.

PlayStation VR HDR compatibility is soon on the horizon, with Sony yesterday confirming it will offer a headset that supports the standard. This new headset uses different connectors. The connection cabling for the headphones has also been made slimmer in an effort to reduce the PS VR's over all profile. PlayStation has been a huge part of my life for more than 20 years but with the business having achieved record-breaking success, now seemed to be the right time for me to pursue new challenges. A $499.99 bundle throws in two PlayStation Move controllers and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds. All the company said was that it will share more details on the North American launch at a later date.

Sony will mark the first anniversary of its VR headset this month. Previously, the company announced the VR headset for the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 37,990.

No longer will we be fighting through wires when trying to play games, while the in-built earphones will provide an a cleaner alternative akin to its high-powered rivals, the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
