Blackburn Responds to Twitter Censorship: 'Double Standard' for Pro-life Content

In a video entirely composed of Deplorable-friendly mantras, it was Blackburn's reference to having "fought Planned Parenthood and ... stopped the sale of baby body parts" that Twitter considered to be a bridge too far.

Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn called on Twitter to apologize Tuesday for blocking her pro-life Senate campaign ad from the platform. Twitter blocked the video, saying the statement in question would have to be nixed for the ad to be allowed. "Republicans will be nominating people who are running to the extreme, far right on issues that impact people's lives like health care, infrastructure, taxes, and civil rights". Bob Corker, who is retiring.

What's more, the Blackburn development follows an awakening of sorts from Silicon Valley, in which it has decided that it won't do business with parties it doesn't like.

Blackburn's says: "I'm 100 percent pro-life". But luckily for the congresswoman, Twitter gave her a better opponent than GOP elites when it blocked her campaign spot from Twitter ads. Planned Parenthood denied the allegations, and a dozen state investigations found no evidence of wrongdoing. "When I talked about our legislative accomplishments to stop the sale of baby body parts, they responded by calling our ad "inflammatory" and 'negative'". A Twitter representative told Blackburn's team that in order to promote it again, she'd have to remove this "inflammatory statement that is likely to evoke a strong negative reaction".

Blackburn tweeted for her followers to join her in "standing up to Silicon Valley", by retweeting the ad.

Twitter deemed the line about "baby body parts" to be inflammatory, in violation of the site's guidelines.

"It is astounding to me that Twitter, which is an important outlet, would choose not only to censor a political ad but that they would censor a pro-life message", she told Fox News.

Under Blackburn's leadership, the committee investigated the illegal fetal-tissue-trafficking industry, prompted by a series of undercover videos suggesting that Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics had cooperated with biotech firms to profit from the organs of aborted babies. "It's something that people wanted to see shut down".

Just last month, Lila Rose of the anti-abortion group Live Action accused Twitter of suppressing the organization's ads and even asking it to make changes to its own website.
