Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool team news for Maribor Champions League clash

It was disappointment after the game and that is because we deserved more.

The United manager has been accused of playing it "safe" and all too happy to sit deep for their high-profile clash with arch-rivals Liverpool, with Mourinho only looking to exit the game unbeaten.

But the former Borussia Dortmund boss was quick to defend his team after a run of just one win from their last eight matches ahead of Tuesday's clash with Maribor, claiming his side can not be blamed for the defeat to City that sparked their poor period of results.

But Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out any further squad rotation for the Group E game.

Indeed, the ex-Southampton captain played a key role in helping Liverpool to secure a return to the Champions League after a two season absence.

Luckily for Liverpool, no one team looks like running away with the group, meaning they still have a great chance of reaching the knockout stages provided they get a couple of wins under their belt, with the double-header against Maribor the ideal opportunity.

"We can not sit back and say "Let's wait" - that is not possible", said Klopp. "We've already wasted points so we have to be very good again it's an important moment".

"We have to be confident. It's the last place I would do things like this", he added.

Liverpool have failed to win any of their last seven UEFA Champions League group stage matches.

This season, Woodburn has only featured once in the first team of Liverpool in a league cup contest that the Reds lost against Leicester City.

"We have a good record against English teams, in European competition, with one home win and two draws", The Mirror quotes Pihler as saying. We make maybe one or two changes but the first job is not to think the same thing you think and underestimate the opponent.

"The two games we saw of Maribor were different".
