Animal Crossing Pocket Camp brings the franchise to mobile in November

Though fans have been eagerly awaiting an announcement of Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has other plans for the franchise for the time being... mobile plans.

This kind of work is familiar to anyone who has played Animal Crossing before, but what's new here is that you aren't just collecting items to sell, you're gathering them to craft, because that's what Pocket Camp's economy (both in-game and in the real world) is based on. Where the grind is something most people pay to avoid in phone games, in Animal Crossing it's often been the point, and something players have had to do regardless of the platform.

You'll help animals orient themselves, craft furniture and other amenities, and do what you can to attract animals to your campsite. But if things are moving too slowly or you don't have the necessary items, in-game currency (known as leaf tickets) can get you what you need.

Announced during the latest Nintendo Direct, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp gives you the job you never knew you wanted: campsite manager. Now, Mashable reports, Nintendo is revamping Animal Crossing. It also requires an persistent internet connection to play.

Nintendo games have always been built around simple, yet engaging mechanics that would translate perfectly to the mobile marketplace. The thirst for Animal Crossing is real right now! The map is split into multiple themed areas rather than being one big, contiguous village now: you can drive your camper over to Breezy Hollow to shake some apple trees, then head down to the beach to collect sea shells and fish.

Animal Crossing is basically like The Sims with more adorable animals and a bright pastel color palette. It's the full game, and you can find it right here. It's a central space where you can get new furniture and arrange it, but instead of simply doing so for your own pleasure, you're looking to create a space for your animal friends to hang out. "Once someone visits, you can exchange your Bells for items saved in the Market Box".

Packed with cute animal campers and Animal Crossing style, the latest mobile title from Nintendo follows in the footsteps of games before it like Fire Emblem Heroes and Super Mario Run. You can sign up to be notified when the game goes live in the U.S. and in the UK.

Haha, I wish! We'll just have to go back to the GameCube version if we want to enjoy Tennis and Balloon Fight in the comfort of our customized Animal Crossing homes again.

Your camper can be customised at OK Motors, whether that be by filling it with furniture or decorating the exterior, while seasonal events will, hopefully, keep your returning to the game over time - promising limited-time furniture and outfits.
