Twitter suspends Trump ally Roger Stone after rant

Longtime President Trump associate, informal adviser, and political consultant Roger Stone threatened to bring legal action against Twitter after his own profane tirade against various CNN anchors and contributors led to his account being suspended by the social media platform.

Stone told NY he was "uncertain why" he'd been banned, but the prevailing view on Twitter is that it was the graphic insults he spent much of Friday evening lobbing at reporters and commentators following the news that special counsel Robert Mueller had filed the first charges in the Russian Federation probe.

Blow simply tweeted: "Stoned". Despite parting ways with the Trump campaign in August 2015-Trump says he fired Stone for hogging the media spotlight; Stone says he quit because Trump attacked Megyn Kelly-Stone has remained one of Trump's most loyal true believers.

Added Stone, "I'll be baaaaaak". Stone tweeted that anchor Don Lemon was "dumber than dog sh-" and deserved to be mocked. The Twitter Rules clearly state users "may not incite or engage in the targeted abuse or harassment of others".

In his Facebook post, Stone included a screenshot of the message he'd reportedly received from Twitter when attempting to access his account. He told Fox News his ban was scheduled to last "for 3 hours and 12 minutes" at least 16 hours ago, but the account is still suspended as of publication time.

Update, October 29th, 9:05am: It looks like Roger Stone is now tweeting under the account for his Netflix documentary, Get Me Roger Stone.

A spokesperson for Twitter told The Hill on Saturday that the company does not comment on individual accounts, but pointed to its policy on abusive language, which may have been the reason behind Stone's suspension.

"This is a unusual way to do business and part and parcel of the systematic effort by the tech left to censor and silence conservative voices", Stone said of his ban in a statement to Politico. "The battle for free speech has just begun".
