McConnell Calls On Roy Moore To 'Step Aside'

Moore fully denies the allegations, calling them "completely false" and threatening to sue The Washington Post, which first published the women's stories.

Nelson said when she was 16, Moore groped her and tried to force her head onto his crotch in his auto behind the restaurant where she worked. He noted that the accusation detailed in a recent Washington Post report, in which a woman claimed Moore made sexual advances on her in 1979 when she was 14 and he was 32, would count as a misdemeanor in Alabama at the time. "I was terrified. He was also struggling to pull my shirt off", she said.

Walker's office did not immediately respond Monday to an inquiry asking if his views on Moore had changed or whether he wanted to address the statements from Shilling and Taylor.

Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore sexually assaulted a 16-year-old when he was an adult - locking her inside his auto and forcing her head onto his crotch, the now-grown woman claimed Monday.

McConnell previously said Moore should end his candidacy if the allegations were proven true. They included the head of the House Freedom Caucus, Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Texas Sen.

While pressure to quit the race four weeks before Election Day intensified from within the Republican Party, Moore assured supporters Sunday night at a Huntsville, Alabama, gym that the article was "fake news" and "a desperate attempt to stop my political campaign". Moore has denied any wrongdoing and has not indicated he plans to drop out of the December 12 special election to fill Attorney General Jeff Sessions' former Senate seat.

Toomey did not rule out the possibility that Senate Republicans might work to unseat Moore if he wins the special election against Democrat Doug Jones.

Moore, too, has tried to raise money from the controversy, writing in a fundraising pitch that the "vicious and sleazy attacks against me are growing more vicious by the minute".

Breitbart News chairman Stephen K. Bannon appears at a rally September 25 for U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore in Fairhope, Ala.

"President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party in America. It was a Scott Walker, a Scott P. Walker, I'm Scott Kevin Walker", Walker said. Sessions to testify at hearing amid Russia scrutiny Russian social media is the modern-day Trojan horse Trump records robo-call for Gillespie: "He'll help "make America great again" MORE", he said.

But Moore has remained defiant.

Moore is an outspoken Christian conservative and former state Supreme Court judge. And any effort to add odd as a write-in candidate would threaten to divide the GOP vote in a way that would give the Democratic candidate a greater chance of winning.

Mindful of the stakes, Democrats on Sunday appeared largely content to let Republicans debate whether Moore should be their standard bearer in the race.
